by Pete Richmire

The Kansas City Comets have announced the decision not to re-sign free agents or outright release of four players today. The decisions were made based on the players’ desires to pursue activities outside the MASL. The Comets organization would like to thank these players and wish them the best in their endeavors.

Robert Kelly – Forward – Kelly joined the Comets as a rookie during the 2018-19 season and appeared in 20 regular-season and three playoff games for Kansas City over three seasons. Kelly will turn his attention solely to his position as the head men’s soccer coach at Avila University and coaching with the Alliance Futbol Club.

Hector ‘Moy’ Solorio – Midfield – Solorio appeared in 24 regular-season games for the Comets over two campaigns. He also took the field for Kansas City during the 2020 Central Cup in all three games. Solorio recently launched Ryogoku Soccer Academy to support, challenge, and bring awareness to the young men of Kansas City. https://ryogokusocceracademy.org

Jose ‘Ze’ Ramos – Midfield/Defense – Ramos appeared in three games last season for the Comets including their crucial 5-3 win against San Diego on January 29. In addition to his work with Toca FC, he was recently named an assistant coach for the women’s program at Mid-America Nazarene.

Alvaro Beltran – Defense – Beltran saw action in 15 regular-season games over two seasons for the Comets. He notched a two-goal game against Tacoma last season and also appeared in all three Central Cup games. He will now focus on his growing family as well as his work with Toca FC. https://www.tocafc.org
