Stefan Stokic
Stokic joined the Comets coaching staff in 2021 after an 11-year professional indoor soccer career. He finished with 32 goals, 37 assists for 69 points while playing in 223 games. Stefan is a native of Belgrade, Serbia, and a former Park University collegiate player. Stokic signed his first professional contract when he was only 19 years old with the Swedish club Malmö FF in 2004.

Alan Mayer
Alan Mayer joined the Comets coaching staff in 2012. He played goalkeeper professionally for 16 years and was a member of the U.S. National team in 1976 and 1977. He earned six caps with Team USA and recorded two shutouts. He was inducted into the Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame, Class of 2019.

He played in the NASL from 1974-81 for two different franchises, where he earned several honors, including 1978 NASL American Player of the Year. From 1979-89, he played indoor soccer in the MISL, where he helped the San Diego Sockers to the 1982-83 league title, and was named the MISL MVP and first-team All-Star goalkeeper. Mayer signed with the Kansas City Comets for the 1985-86 season and became an MISL All-Star for the second time. “Kamikaze” (as he was nicknamed for his reckless all-out style of play) became a fan favorite throughout his time in K.C., spending his final four seasons as a Comet before retiring at the end of the 1988-89 season. Mayer’s number (0) was retired on February 22, 2013, and his banner hangs from the rafters at Cable Dahmer Arena.

Kenny Mayer
Kenny has been with the Comets for more than a decade, beginning his roll at the start of the 2014 championship season. Growing up in the Kansas City area, Mayer attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School. During his high school athletic career, he was an MVP in both soccer and tennis. Mayer then played collegiate soccer at Lindenwood University in St. Louis. After college, he played professionally with the Kansas City Wizards. He won a State Title with Cinto Elemento. In addition to his duties with the Comets, Mayer also coaches Sunflower State Football Club.

Matt Gordon
Matt Gordon is entering his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Kansas City Comets and brings over 16 years of coaching experience to the staff. He holds a U.S. Soccer A License and serves as a U.S. Soccer Coach Educator, mentoring coaches across the country. A Kansas City native, Gordon has spent the past 16 years coaching in youth club and local high school programs, helping develop players throughout the region.

Shawn is an experienced Certified Athletic Trainer with Ortho Coach Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. Skilled in Injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, athletic training day to day operations policies and procedures. Shawn has a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training with a Master's degree focused in Exercise Science with and emphasis in sport business.
