COMETS CLOSE OUT HOME SCHEDULE WITH IMPORTANT CROSS-STATE BATTLE

by Jeff Husted

The Kansas City Comets return home for their final regular season home game of the season and their final meeting against the St Louis Ambush. Kansas City currently holds a one-game advantage over their cross-state rivals for the South Central Division's final playoff spot.

The Comets split their weekend series in Florida last Saturday and Sunday, picking up a win against the Orlando SeaWolves before dropping a loss against the Florida Tropics. They sit at 10-10 on the season as they look to return to the playoffs for the 8th time in 9 seasons.

Kansas City is once again led by Leo Gibson who has scored 10 goals in his last 8 games and has 29 on the season. Along with his goals, Gibson's 27 assists and 56 points puts him in the top five of every MASL statistical category.

St Louis is led by rookie Zach Reget. The Kenosha, Wisconsin native has 21 goals on the season and 9 assists for the Ambush. He has scored 7 goals in the previous five games against Kansas City.

A win for the Comets would get them that much closer to securing their spot in the playoffs. The Ambush would not be technically elimated, but with only one game left in their 2018-2019 campaign, they would need a lot of help to find their way to the postseason
