Comets extend forward Junior Kazeem for 2 more years

The Comets have announced that forward Junior Kazeem has signed a two-year contract extension through the 2025-26 season. The contract is pending immigration and visa approval and per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Kazeem is back for his third season with the Comets after joining the team towards the end of the 2021-22 campaign, where he scored once in three games. The target forward returned last season to tally three goals and an assist in 11 games.

The 26-year-old is looking towards making the next step into becoming another dominant player in the Comets’ talented forward line, “I’m truly excited to sign this extension and be back with the organization,” Kazeem said. “Given this opportunity to work towards the team goals and objectives are things that I’m really looking forward to. I’m ready to get started and keep learning!”

A native of London, England, Kazeem knows what it takes to win championships having won back-to-back NAIA national titles with Central Methodist University in 2018 and 2019. He is now hoping to get his first full season of availability in the MASL after dealing with visa issues for the first portion of last season.

He sparked one of last season’s most memorable moments when he scored twice in the fourth quarter, including the game-winner with 37.8 seconds remaining, en route to a comeback win against the St. Louis Ambush. Cable Dahmer Arena erupted after that late go-ahead goal hit the back of the net.

“The Comets fan base is like no other, that was truly shown and felt last year through having the highest attendance numbers. It will be exciting to be back in front of the home fans and give our best.”

Kazeem worked hard to earn that moment against the Ambush. Comets head coach Stefan Stokic admires Kazeem’s tremendous mentality and work ethic.

“We are very excited to have him for the next two years,” Stokic said. “Junior is a very talented player but what I love the most about him is his work ethic, mentality to win and to improve every day.”
