COMETS LOOK TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM IN FLORIDA

by Jeff Husted

The Comets return to Lakeland, Florida for the second time in three weeks. Just like before they enter the game coming off a big win over the Orlando SeaWolves. Although this time, the Comets look to put together a better performance than last, a tired 12-8 Sunday afternoon defeat.

With last night's win over the SeaWolves, the Comets have qualified for the Ron Newman Cup playoffs with two games remaining in the regular season, tonight against the Tropics and on April 14 against the Milwaukee Wave.

Kansas City comes into the game with several players on a hot streak. Leo Gibson has an eight game goal streak, John Sosa has ten points in March, Kevin Ellis has only played nine games this season but has tallied 10 goals and four assists in that time.

Florida has struggled some on the field, but they have many powerful offensive weapons. Ricardo Diegues leads the team with 22 goals while Victor Parreiras has 28 points (15 goals, 13 assissts). They acquired Antonio Manfut midway through the season and he's thrived in sunny Florida. his 11 goals and 6 assists have been a bright spot for the Tropics.

Kansas City has secured their spot in the postseason, but they still have much to play for. A win tonight in Lakeland will help the team to continue its momentum into the playoffs.
