COMETS SET TO CLASH WITH SEAWOLVES

KANSAS CITY (March 3, 2020) The Kansas City Comets host the Orlando Seawolves Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in their penultimate home game of the season. The Comets are looking to improve to 2-0 over Orlando, having beaten the Seawolves 14-6 on Jan. 10.

Orlando (1-16) is looking for its second win of the season. The Seawolves’ lone victory came in December, 5-4, over Baltimore. They’ve since lost 11 consecutively. The Comets (8-10) are riding a losing streak of their own, having lost three on the trot.

In their last meeting, the Comets were led by the dynamic duo of Kevin Ellis and Leo Gibson, who combined for 11 points in the blowout win. Ellis put five goals past Fernando Cortes and Gibson two, on top of four assists. Nacho Flores also chipped in four assists and a goal. All three made the MASL Team of the Week, and Ellis was named Player of the Week.

Kansas City’s Odaine Sinclair scored and picked up a blue card in that game, but did so for Orlando. The veteran forward would play three more games with the Seawolves before joining the Comets. He’s scored a goal, an assist and four blocked shots since switching to Kansas City.

Thursday’s game is the first of three-in-four-days for both Kansas City and Orlando. The Seawolves will head to Milwaukee for back-to-back games against the Wave Saturday and Sunday, while the Comets travel to New York to visit Utica and Rochester in the same time frame.

Kansas City will be without Stefan Stokic, who sustained a concussion and nasal fracture in Sunday’s loss at St. Louis.
