COMETS SIGN ANDERAOS TO 2-YEAR DEAL
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Comets have signed midfielder Christian Anderaos on a two-year deal. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The agreement will keep Anderaos with the Comets through the 2027-28 season. Anderaos has become an integral part of the team, amassing more than 100 appearances as a Comet since his rookie campaign in 2021.
“Chris is an important part of what we’re building here in Kansas City,” said Stefan Stokic, Comets head coach. “I know what he brings to this team, his mentality, his competitiveness, and his commitment to winning.”
The São Paulo, Brazil native is coming off his most productive offensive season, converting 33% of shots into goals with 1.1 points per game. He tallied 21 points from 12 goals and nine assists, all new career highs.
Anderaos won the 2023-24 Joseph Cairel Award, given annually to honor the late Joseph Cairel of the Ontario Fury and Tacoma Stars. Like Cairel, Anderaos plays with his heart on his sleeve, is a great locker room asset, and has continued his tremendous community work.
“I’m excited to be back and ready to give everything I have for this team, as I always do,” Anderaos said. “I love this city, and this team, and I look forward to creating more incredible memories together.”
On the turf, Anderaos has worked hard to become reliable with three consecutive 20-game seasons. In five seasons, Anderaos has totaled 102 appearances with 66 points from 42 goals and 24 assists.
Prior to his MASL career, Anderaos played collegiately at the University of Missouri-Kansas City after time with Universidade de Sao Paulo. In two years at UMKC, Anderaos started 30 of 33 matches with a goal and nine assists out of the midfield.
After playing a key role in the Comets’ run to the MASL Finals in 2024, which included a hat trick against Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference Finals, Anderaos has continued building an impressive portfolio of three consecutive double-digit scoring seasons. As he has done for himself, he will continue to raise the team’s standards in the years ahead.
“He’s a player who understands what it takes to compete at a high level, and having him continue with us is important for our future,” Stokic said. “We have unfinished business, and our goal remains the same. We want to bring a championship back to Kansas City, and I’m excited to keep working together toward that goal.”
Anderaos and the Comets kick off the new season over Thanksgiving weekend, which includes a home opener clash with Milwaukee on Nov. 28. Fans can ensure they have seats for all 12 home games by becoming season ticket members at kccomets.com/seasontickets2627.
“I can’t wait to be back at Cable Dahmer Arena, battling with my boys and competing for a championship with the support of the best fans in the league,” Anderaos said. “Let’s get to work! Tazmanian stays in KC!
