KANSAS CITY (October 8, 2020) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that they have signed forward Rian Marques for the next three seasons, which keeps the 25-year old with the team through the 2022-2023 campaign. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Brazilian-born rookie is coming off a quick stint with the Springfield Demize of the PASL, where he scored 8 goals in only four games of action. His 8 goals led the team and the conference. Marques and the Demize are playing in this weekend’s PASL Championships being held in Fairfield, OH.

Collegiately, Marques appeared in 23 games for the 2019 NAIA National Champions Central Methodist University Eagles under Head Coach, Alex Nichols.

At 6’ 4” tall, Comets Head Coach Leo Gibson thinks he has a forward who can cause matchup problems for opposing defenses. “I’m excited to have Rian on the team and believe that he’s going to add something unique to our style of play,” said Gibson.

“I can’t wait to meet my teammates and start learning from Coach Gibson,” Marques said. “I am excited to develop my game and help the Comets reach our goal of winning a championship.”
