KANSAS CITY (March 11, 2022) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that the club has signed goalkeeper, Steven Hamersky to a contract for the remainder of the 2022 season. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Hamersky will be on loan from his current indoor team, the Wichita Wings of the Major Arena Soccer League’s second division.

This will be Hamersky’s fourth tour of duty with the Comets. During the 2017-18 season, Hamersky appeared in 4 games for the Comets. In 2018-19, he made one appearance in goal, and in 2019-20, he played in 3 games.

Nicknamed “The Lawman” because he serves as a resource officer for the Newton, KS School District, Hamersky has a 14-3 record and a 6.16 goals-against average over his three seasons with the Wings.

“I am glad to be able to help out during this time of need for the team, and I’m honored that the Comets coaching staff views me as viable option, Hamersky said. “The Comets have always treated me extremely well and are a class organization. I’m excited to come back to KC and help the team any way I can.”

“As the Wings sit idle prior to the M2 playoff schedule being announced, we appreciate them loaning Steven to us during this critical stretch of games, said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski.”

Hamersky will be in uniform when the Comets return home this Friday night at 7pm against the Milwaukee Wave at Cable Dahmer Arena. The Comets will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Kansas City Attack, with players wearing special throwback KC Attack jerseys, former Attack players will be recognized at halftime, and a banner honoring the two Attack championship seasons will be unveiled.
