KANSAS CITY (March 2, 2022) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that the club has signed midfielder, Eduardo “Lalo” Alonso to a 1-year contract. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Alonso was 2017 and 2018 Missouri All-State First Team at Sedalia Smith Cotton High School and played for Comets owner, Brian Budzinski in the Alliance Futbol Club. He was a member of the “Morelia Monarcas U20” roster in 2018 and 2019, which played in the Liga Premier (Mexico’s Third Division).

Alonso has been practicing with the Comets since the beginning of training camp in early November, driving two hours every day, each way from Sedalia, MO. Head Coach Leo Gibson awarded Lalo for this time, effort, and passion with a recent contract.

“At 20 years old, Lalo is a young player with a bright future, said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski. “He has earned a contract from the coaching staff through his hard work and dedication.”

“I just want to thank Coach Leo and Brian Budzinski for giving me this opportunity,” said Alonso.

The Comets return home this Friday night at 7pm against the Milwaukee Wave at Cable Dahmer Arena. The Comets will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Kansas City Attack, with players wearing special throwback KC Attack jerseys, former Attack players will be recognized at halftime, and a banner honoring the two Attack championship seasons will be unveiled.
