INDEPENDENCE, MO – The Kansas City Comets have announced the signing of Sporting Kansas City Academy alum Chase Bromstedt to a one-year deal today. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not released.

Bromstedt, a graduate of Park Hill South High School, was a five-year starter at Tulsa University making the Starting XI in 65 of the 75 games he appeared in for the Golden Hurricane. In his Super Senior year, he was named to the All-American All-Conference 1st Team after being named to the preseason All-Conference Team. He graduated with a double bachelor’s degree in accounting and in finance. During his college career he was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team three times.

The hard work Bromstedt displayed in college caught Comets owner Brian Budzinski’s eye. He said, “Chase comes from a great family and has a tremendous work ethic. As a left-footed player with tremendous technical ability, he will fit in nicely as he can play both in defense and in the midfield. I’m excited to add another talented local player to represent Kansas City.”

The USL Las Vegas Lights signed Bromstedt this past season and he saw action in almost every game for the squad. But, after time in Tulsa and Las Vegas, he is ready to return to his roots.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to come home and play for my hometown and for such a great organization,” said Bromstedt.

The Comets kick-off their home schedule on November 26 against the in-state rival St. Louis Ambush at 6:05 pm.
