GOALKEEPER SWAY MAZON SIGNS WITH THE COMETS

by Pete Richmire

INDEPENDENCE, MO. – The Comets have bolstered their goalkeeping core with today’s announcement of the signing of Josue “Sway” Mazon to a one-year deal. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Mazon, a Waukegan, Illinois native, appeared in 10 games for the St. Louis Ambush last season with nine starts. Prior to that, he saw action in five games for the Orlando SeaWolves during the 2019-20 campaign.

Mazon is ready to hit the blue turf at Cable Dahmer Arena. He said, “I’m excited to be a part of the Comets. This was an opportunity I didn’t expect and also couldn’t pass up. I want to thank God for the opportunity as well as my family and loved ones for always supporting me.”

The addition of Mazon gives the Comets great options in goal as team owner Brian Budzinski said, “Sway provides another veteran option in goal. He fits our culture in the locker room with his unselfish professionalism. Goalkeeper Coaches Alan and Ken Mayer will have one of the strongest Goalkeeper rooms in the MASL.”

The Comets will open the season in St. Louis against Mazon’s previous club on November 25th before kicking off their home schedule on Saturday, November 26 against that same team as Hot Winter Nights returns to Cabe Dahmer Arena.
