KANSAS CITY COMETS’ LEO GIBSON EARNS MASL HONORS

by Jeff Husted

KANSAS CITY (April 24, 2018) – Kansas City Comets legend Leo Gibson was named the inaugural winner of the Major Arena Soccer League’s (MASL) Ed Tepper Humanitarian Award in an announcement this afternoon. This is the first award of its kind for the MASL and Gibson earns it with his work with the local Kansas City community and with his charity, Kick for Christ.

Gibson runs the ‘Kick for Christ’ charity and is dedicated to helping improve the lives of those in need, both in Kansas City and in his home country of Liberia. Gibson works with KC area professional athletes and local volunteers to collect gently used sporting and athletic equipment which he then distributes to kids who could not normally afford them on their own.

Each year he also coordinates a trip to Liberia where he distributes more equipment, along with everyday essentials to those in need. Recently he has expanded his charitable efforts as the Kick for Christ organization now supports those in South Africa and Haiti as well.
