KANSAS CITY (Oct. 16, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that the team has partnered with Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #2 to deliver the Comets Reading Program to schools across the Kansas City Metro area.

The Comets Reading Program, in its second year, encourages students at the grade school and middle school levels to read as much as possible. When students hit their reading goal set by their teacher, they receive a free ticket to an upcoming regular season Comets game.

“The Kansas City Comets Reading Program was such a huge success last year and it really got students interested in reading more,” said Comets Vice President, Scott Levinson. “And to have Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #2 be a part of our program this year makes the program even more outstanding.”

After the students have been given their reading goal from their teacher, the student is sent home with a log to track the number of minutes that they read. The Comets and Sheet Metal Workers Local #2 encourage the parents/guardians to assist the student in tracking their progress.

“Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #2 is proud to partner with the Comets on their reading program,” said Jay Lind, Financial Secretary-Treasurer for Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #2. “Reading is such a vital part of education in whatever career path a student chooses.”
