KANSAS CITY COMETS RE-SIGN KIM ROENTVED

KANSAS CITY (June 11, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets announced a new contract with the legendary Kim Roentved to remain as head coach of the team through the 2019-2020 season. Per team policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Roentved was the original coach of the Comets when the team was revived in 2010, guiding the team to the MISL Championship round in 2013. “The Rocket”, as he was called during his playing days for the Wichita Wings and the Comets of the 1990s, took the reins again last season.

“We are excited to retain Kim (Roentved) as we look to build upon what he has helped to establish here in Kansas City,” said Managing Partner Colin Weaver. “I’m excited to work with him to bring this team back to its championship-caliber ways.”

Roentved heads into the 2018-2019 season with exactly 100 games (regular season and playoffs) behind the bench for Kansas City.

“The Comets are, and always will be, special to me,” said Roentved. “We had a rough go last season, but there were plenty of bright spots that we can build on and turn around our fortunes quickly.”

With the head coach in place, the Comets have already begun discussions to return key players for the upcoming season, in addition to talking with new players about joining the team.
