Roster beginning to take shape with season just around the corner

KANSAS CITY (Oct. 9, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets announced the return of three players to the roster as Adam James, Mark Saxby and Odaine Sinclair (pending visa approval) each signed new contracts. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

James, 22, joined the Comets on January 12 last season. He played in ten of the team’s remaining games in the season, scoring seven goals and three assists along the way.

“Adam is a young kid who had some success right away last year,” said Comets Head Coach Kim Roentved. “It usually takes a couple years for young players to understand this game. If he’s still learning, then that means only good things for us.”

Joining the Kearney, Missouri native on the roster are goalkeeper Mark Saxby and defender Odaine Sinclair.

Saxby, 29, trained with the Comets for much of the season last year and was signed as an emergency goalkeeper on February 9. His rookie debut was good enough for Roentved to name him the starter for the team’s remaining six games. He earned his first win a week later against the Harrisburg Heat.

Sinclair, also 29, began his arena soccer career in 2013 when he was selected by the St Louis Ambush out of the MISL Combine. Sinclair played for the Ambush for three seasons and was named MISL Rookie of the Year in 2014. He joined the Comets in 2016 and has scored 8 goals and 10 assists in his 40 games with the club.

“Mark and Odaine provide valuable depth to our roster,” said Roentved. “We saw last year how important it is to have some good players ready to go at a moment’s notice.”

The Kansas City Comets will open their 12-game home schedule against the Milwaukee Wave at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on December 15th at 7:05 p.m. CT. The full 24-game schedule is available now at KCComets.com.

Season Tickets are available now and single game and group tickets will be available soon. For more information about the Kansas City Comets, be sure to follow the team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
