KYLE MCLAGAN RETURNS TO COMETS

KANSAS CITY (November 25, 2021) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that defender, Kyle McLagan has signed a partial-season contract with the club. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.


McLagan, son of former Comets star, Doug McLagan is a local Kansas City product out of Lee’s Summit, MO, who played high school soccer at Rockhurst. Kyle was named Kansas City Star All-Metro and MSHSAA Player of the Year. He led Rockhurst to a Missouri Class AAA state title as a senior and was selected to the Choice Hotels All-America squad. Collegiately, McLagan earned first team All-Southern Conference in 2016 during his senior campaign at Furman University in Greenville, SC.


In limited duty  for the Comets last season, McLagan played in 5 games, scoring 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points. McLagan will be playing for the Comets this season while his current outdoor club, Vikingur FC in Iceland is in its offseason. Vikingur FC plays in the top league in Iceland, and will be playing in the Champions League qualifiers next summer. In 21 games last season while playing for Fram Reykjavik, McLagan scored 5 goals from the center back position. Prior to playing in Iceland, McLagan played 2 seasons in Denmark following his college career at Furman.
