KANSAS CITY (January 1, 2021) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that midfielder, Nick McDonald has signed a new one-year contract. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

McDonald, a Blue Valley High School product, was a late-season addition to the Comets roster last year, appearing in seven games. In last month’s Central Cup Tournament, McDonald scored one goal to go along with two assists in three games.

McDonald played collegiately for Rockhurst University, where he started all four years from 2010-2013. He helped lead the Hawks to three NCAA Tournaments and the NCAA Final Four in his senior season. McDonald was voted All-CLVC and All-Region three years. McDonald also currently serves as the Head Coach of Sunflower State FC of MASL3.

“Nick is a player who has put in the work to claim a spot in the midfield for us” said Comets Head Coach, Leo Gibson. “He has a great attitude and is only going to get better.”

“I am excited to be back with the Comets after having such a great experience last season,” said McDonald. “I feel really good about my play at practice, and Coach Gibson has been instrumental in helping me transition to the indoor game.”
