Kansas City, MO (October 7, 2021) – The Comets announced today that the team will play its Saturday, January 22nd regular season home game against the Tacoma Stars at T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City. This will mark the second time that the Comets have played at the downtown arena.

The last time the Comets played at T-Mobile Center was back in 2012 when the team faced off against the Wichita Wings. As was the case in 2012, the January 22nd game will coincide with the United Soccer Coaches Convention, which takes place up the street from the arena at Bartle Hall from January 19th-23rd. The convention is the largest gathering of soccer coaches and administrators in the world and is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees along with hundreds of exhibitors.

“The Comets organization couldn’t be more excited to be playing a game at T-Mobile Center,” said Comets Managing Partner, Brian Budzinski. “We know that our fans as well as the convention attendees are really going to enjoy experiencing this showcased match at such a world-class arena.”

When the Comets last played at T-Mobile Center in 2012, over 9,000 fans attended the match against the Wings, filling the entire arena lower bowl.

United Soccer Coaches Director of Operations and Events Geoff VanDeusen says he is looking forward to having the match available for those coming in for the convention.  “We are elated to have the fast-paced, exciting game of MASL as part of the United Soccer Coaches Convention,” VanDeusen said. “I look forward to our convention attendees cheering on the Comets in downtown KC.”

“Having a presence at the United Soccer Coaches convention is a huge step in our vision to promote the game of professional indoor soccer,” said Major Arena Soccer League Commissioner, Keith Tozer. “The game between the Kansas City Comets and the Tacoma Stars in downtown Kansas City allows us to showcase our product to coaches, soccer vendors and fans from all over the world.”

Tickets for the Comets/Stars match at T-Mobile Center will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 15th at 10am through T-MobileCenter.com. Groups of 10 or more can purchase discounted tickets by calling the Kansas City Comets at 888-9-COMETS.

T-Mobile Center General Manager, Jay Cooper had this to say about indoor soccer coming to his arena: “T-Mobile Center looks forward to welcoming Kansas City soccer fans for fast-paced action this January.”
