Tekesky out for season, Mazon returns
The Kansas City Comets can confirm that goalkeeper Steven Tekesky will miss the remainder of the season after fracturing his left thumb.
Tekesky will be in great care with surgery performed by Sano Orthopedics followed by rehab with Select Physical Therapy.
Tekesky sustained his injury in the second quarter of a road game on March 12 against the Milwaukee Wave. He went to get a loose ball near the top of the box and had the ball blasted into his hand by a Milwaukee attacker. The first-year goalkeeper was eventually replaced by Tito Favela, who led the Comets to an 8-6 win away from home.
Tekesky’s rookie season concludes with 33 saves stopping 67% of shots faced in more than 170 minutes of action.
The Comets have also recalled Josue “Sway” Mazon to the team after he was placed on trade waivers last month.
