The 7-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave returned for their 38 years of indoor soccer Saturday night at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and defeated the St. Louis Ambush in a hard-fought battle.

“It’s always great to come out of the gates with a win in front of our fans,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Home openers are always exciting and I thought our energy was amazing tonight.”

The always-dependable #26 Ian Bennett scored three goals, while ‘the big man’ #99 Andre Hayne had 2 goals and 2 assists good for 4 points and Wave newcomer #6 Shawn “Squid” Azcueta scored his first professional goal of his career.

“We’ve got some good chemistry going between our veteran players and new guys,” added Oliviero. “Our young guys are learning fast and playing with a lot of confidence.  That’s really great to see.”

The Wave now make their way to Independence, Missouri to take on division rivals, the Kansas City Comets Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm from The Family Arena.
