WICHITA NATIVE DEBRAY HOLLIMON RE-SIGNED BY COMETS

INDEPENDENCE, MO. – Defender DeBray Hollimon is set to begin his first full season with Kansas City as the Comets have announced signing the California native to a new contract. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The Hollimon name is familiar in the local soccer scene as his father, LeBaron played for the Kansas City Attack and is currently on the coaching staff for FC Wichita.

His senior season at Wichita Northwest saw the younger Hollimon named to the All-State and All-League 2nd Teams, and All-Metro 1st Team. The Grizzlies posted a 21-0 record during his sophomore year, claiming the State 6A title.

Hollimon saw action in three regular-season games and had a post-season appearance for the Comets last season after coming over for Tacoma, where he had a pair of goals and assists in nine games.

He started his MASL career in Ontario during the 2018-19 season where he posted 10 points (5G-5A) in 21 games. His second season with the Fury consisted of 18 games during the COVID-shortened campaign.

The 2021 season was Hollimon’s first in Tacoma, where he would spend two more campaigns before joining the Comets. For his career, in 81 regular-season games, he has 25 points (10G-15A) and 51 blocks on defense.

Hollimon is happy to stay in Kansas City and ready to be a part of a stingy Comets defense that surrendered the second-fewest goals in the Eastern Conference last season.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity. Let’s get to work,” he said.

Kansas City head coach Stefan Stokic echoed Hollimon’s enthusiasm saying, “We are excited to have DeBray back. With his experience, talent, and hard work, we are expecting him to help us defensively.”

Comets fans can see Hollimon in action at Cable Dahmer Arena this fall when the 2023-24 MASL season kicks off. To lock in your seat for every exciting goal, block, or save, and to get schedule announcements go to www.kccomets.com.
